Dear Stimson Middle School Community,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for each and every one of you. This school year has already been filled with growth, achievements, fun and countless moments of collaboration. I am thankful for our dedicated students, supportive families, and hardworking staff who make Stimson a special place every day!
Wishing you all a joyful and restful Thanksgiving!

Stimson staff and students have been putting in great effort to express their gratitude this holiday season. Every day, the donations continue to grow, along with the feathers of "Turkey Tom"! Please keep the donations coming, as the food drive will run through Wednesday, November 27th!
Additionally, we are asking families to show some thanks to Stimson staff and faculty. Please follow the link to share your gratitude with your child's teachers.

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving season, we are organizing care packages for families in need within our school community. With your generous support, we can make sure every family experiences the joy and warmth of the holiday.
We are kindly seeking donations of non-perishable food, household essentials, and seasonal treats to fill these care packages. Here are some ideas for what you can contribute:
-
Non-perishable foods: Canned vegetables, stuffing mix, boxed mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, etc.
-
Treats & Beverages: Hot cocoa, cookies, or pumpkin spice snacks.
-
Household Essentials: Paper towels, foil trays, dish soap
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference! Donations can be dropped off at Stimson Main Lobby from November 1st to November 27th.
Let’s come together to make this Thanksgiving extra special for those in our community.
If you have any questions please contact Jonathan Sem at 631-812-3720. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!

Our school community had a fantastic week filled with enriching experiences for our students. Parent-Teacher conferences took place on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon, and it was wonderful to see so many families connecting with our Stimson teachers!
Homework Help is now available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 PM in room 311.
As we approach Thanksgiving, please consider donating to our Food Drive. Check the flyer for more details!

In honor of Digital Citizen Week this fall all students in grades 7 & 8 had a series of lessons on Digital Citizenship in the library with Mrs. Irizarry and Mrs. Teeter . Students were encouraged to learn Canva tools as a digital platform to create online safety posters for the New York State Internet Safety Poster Contest. Students also are learning about plagiarism by creating original work choosing to design images using shape elements and draw tools in the program.

Baking is a science. Which one? It is Chemistry! Do you know the difference between a quick bread and a yeast bread? Well Ms. Zelenka-Dufresne's students do. In Home and Careers, students made White Chocolate Bread with yeast. What is yeast? What does fermentation mean? Are there certain conditions needed for yeast to grow? What does it mean for a yeast bread to proof and rest? Our students know the answers!

On Thursday, November 21st, Ms. Vargas' Entering ENL 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to write, cook, and eat their own recipes while collaborating with their classmates. Throughout the previous two weeks, students learned how parts of speech could be applied to real world instances; such as within recipes. Students used cooking command verbs to make their recipes, nouns to identify their ingredients and adjectives to describe their creations when all the hard work was done.

Welcome to Breakfast at Stimson
|
This school year our Nutrition Program will be providing both breakfast and lunch meals at no charge to all of our students. For school arrival each morning, we have placed kiosks at the different entrances to the building; each one stocked with breakfast choices for our students. The locations were chosen to make sure everyone can "grab" a quick breakfast and be on their way to homeroom in a timely fashion.
Make your family mornings a bit less hectic and join us for breakfast !!
